A quiet corner of the internet
Why I'm starting this site, who it's for, and what I plan to write about.
I started this site because I needed a place that was mine.
Twitter is a slot machine. LinkedIn is a job fair. Substack is a tiny publishing empire I don’t want to run yet. I wanted somewhere quieter — a room, not a stage — where I could think in sentences longer than a screen and return to them later.
So this is that room.
What you’ll find here
Three threads, braided together:
- Bio & health. The questions I keep coming back to: metabolism, longevity, translational medicine, and the honest gap between a beautiful paper and a useful product.
- Founder life. The real stuff. Hiring people you can’t afford. Choosing which opportunity to kill. Learning how to want money without letting it distort you.
- AI. Less about the models; more about the new shape of daily work, and what intelligence — biological and artificial — has to teach each other.
I’ll aim for one essay every two weeks. Short when there’s nothing to add, long when the idea earns it.
Who it’s for
If you’re a founder building something unreasonable, a scientist reading into the night, an operator with good taste, or a friend who’s curious about what I’ve been up to — welcome.
The best compliment you can give a piece of writing is to reply to it. Write back any time.
— D.
